UpDaTeZzzz!~
TuesdayI went to school. SHOC-KU! (*
do it with a jap oops...no...'japanese' slang! See, at least I learnt something from my JS (Japanese studies) lecturer. Apparently, it's equivalent to what niggers are to the blacks? hmm)
Collected my final INUYASHA DVD babies from Leon! So happy...then i proceeded to take the wrong bus from Science.
Argh! I'm a failure. Can't believe that I am so blur as that....2 wasted years at NUS with my eyes closed. So, to preserve what little dignity I had left I arrived at the Engineering fac and withdrew money from the atm machine as if I meant to do that anyway. I'm kidding myself but at least it's not such a wasted trip ne? Besides, I could exercise walking from Engine back to Arts...WHEN THE BLASTED RIGHT BUS WOULD HAVE JUST TOOK ME 5 PLUS MINUTES I ENDED UP WANDERING AROUND FOR HALF AN HOUR! Sigh, and to think I knew that path so well in sem 2 of Year 1. BUT its enough that I ended up where I wanted to be...eventually.
Anyway, class started late with people trolling in after the lecturer. My first impression of the lecturer was how she reminded me of ONG TAI TAI or the retired Mrs Ong of CSS with her lion king hairstyle and weird fashion sense. Ah...and being an observant little girl i was I could tell that she was quite strict on puntuality. Anyway, Roy came in just in time for the viewing of "100 of Japanese cinema" or something to that effect. Actually, I came to the course knowing that I was going to drop it due to other commitments and a looming Japan trip but I thought I'd just find out what the module was about. Apparently, the title was a misnomer and the course was more 'Postwar ' than 'anime'. That itself wasn't really such a letdown though but once I heard about the project work I was glad to drop the module. Too much work =P.
After informing the lecturer i was dropping the class, I stuck around to wait for Roy who still wasn't sure whether he wanted the class either. So while he was busy getting aquainted with his potential groupmates, I stood behind observing. As the project could be on japanese films or anime, the group (minus roy=P) was quite for films as the lecturer was not a huge anime fan. There was one guy who really got on my nerves with his remarks on anime. He said, " Anyway, all anime boils down to love." I was like, " I beg your pardon, they do not!"
The nerve of that guy. It's not like i wanna defend anime because I like it but it the way he dismissed love that really got to me. Like I'm above it all, this love stuff. Pulease, you'll find the same issues in your so-called proper films too. It just shows how immature you are if you think you can reduce everything down to a neat little package because there is ALWAYS more to it. Love. What kind of love...between couples, family, friends, country, life? The degree of love and the phases and mutations of love. There is so much to say, so don't presume to be above all of these. Also, he neglects to mention other darker issues that anime can and has definitely addressed. This is not childsplay.
Anyway, my cheek was swollen. I got called a 'chipmunk' by Leon. Grrrr...
WednesdayNo Class!!
ThursdayI co-taught a life science course at Unity Sec (which I never knew even existed before today). BIG SHOCK again. Never have I seen how ill-behaved this kids where that I can't believe they are Sec3 students. I felt intimidated the moment they sauntered into class, creating such a huge ruckus. 2 boys disregarded Cheryl's and my presence and even wrote profanities on the white board. I think both of us wanted to come off as nice trainers but at the beginning the lack of cooperation was seriously daunting.
Soon however, Cheryl managed to get the class off to a good start and I was quite impressed by the way she handled them =) You go girl! As this was my first time as co-trainer, it took some time before I got into the swing of things but soon even I was feeling quite confident. The ony thing that marred the experience was when this really naughty BOY (I say 'boy' cause he was really childish...I'm so glad my css guys weren't like that back then) played with the micropipette. Actually, he was going to return it to the rightful place but he slotted it wrongly in the holder and when I told him the right orientation he started to get cheeky and began poking the pipette around. The last straw came when I saw him poked the pipette in a beaker containing some liquid. THAT's a CARDINAL NO-NO! Then I just saw red and literally roared at him...I think I must have scared a few years of growth out of him. "OF ALL THE THINGS, NEVER EVER PUT THE PIPETTE IN WATER!"
The whole class just went quiet. Truth be told, maybe he thinks it was just a harmless game but I told the whole class and him many times that the micropipette is really expensive and costs a few hundred dollars. So, in the first place if he had just placed the pipette back like he was supposed to he wouldn't have gotten scolded by me. Besides, I was not going to get intimated by a bunch of kids. I guess he just had to find out what my choir juniors already knew, I am scary when I'm mad.
The funny thing was that Jac ( the organiser for this course) was present too and even said that I did the right thing by scolding him. But, somehow, I felt quite guilty too. Afterall, he's just a kid who didn't know any better. So, I told him later, " I'm sorry that I shouted at you just now. " But he said, " It's okay." I'm glad he took it well because I would have felt really guilty even though he deserved the scolding.
What really bothers me about this experience is how these students think that they can get away with such behaviour, this blatant disrespect for authority and lack of common decency. What is going through these student's minds...it really bothers me.

And best of all, a really really GREAT HAIR CUT! I took photos of it and I'll upload it together with photos from my japan trip * squeal* So exciting!
I think my new haircut makes me look japanese.
CUZ, today (Monday) I went out with John and had to do a double-take when he saw me. I think he almost couldn't recognise me on the train. And while we were walking towards Suntec, this Indian guy was staring and when I walked passed him, he said 'arigato'. I was like ... Huh??!?
But, I guess I made a special effort to look different from my usual laid-back casuals. Feeling more adventurous of late. Hopefully, I won't commit any fashion faux that I'd live to regret. So imagine with your puny brains if you can, my ensemble: Purple hat tilted, black halter/sphag, Levis jeans, Purple shoes from Korea, Black chunky watch and silver bangles, a grey fiting 3/4 hooded jacket. Dirty green tied sling cloth bag. My hair now is a shoulder length asymmetric cut with a slanted blunt fringe. I was thinking of colouring my hair but there wasn't enough time then and also, I'd rather wait til my birthday to do something about it.
Really happy with my new look. And guess what, unlike Shunji Matsuo, it did not cost me a bomb (
Wendy: Her cut one time enough for us to cut twenty times), $28 bucks only at Salon One in BIshan! My stylist was Jason Sim (Manager. Tel: 62583218). XYZ, you there?? I highly recommand him if you don't mind the distance. If need be, I'll personally drag you down myself!
Oh, and while i'm on the subject of hair and clothes, John, I still think that that grey shirt we saw in Topshop was cool, you should just leave your hair longer like that guy on the LOREAL dye cover and yes, I'll try to sneak back sushi and Kyoko Fukada for you~ Happy?...As for Kaneshiro....he's mine.
Yupyup...Anyway, this is my last update for now till I get back from Japan so seat tight!! TAKE OFF!~
