I realise that I have weird frens...but maybe that just cuz I'm weird too. But i think one fren of mine just takes the cake...He is none other than mr yuanwei!~

Okie, anyway everything can be traced back to that boring nite when two girls (weiqi and yours truly) had their nightly cyber tete a tete session. They both agreed that there were many good shows to watch. Anyhow, they kinda settled on four and top of the list(mine's to be exact) is Corpse Bride, that delightfully non-mainstream tidbit that Tim Burton has so thoughtfully provided us with.

Anyway, it's kinda sad for just the two of us to watch a movie so I decided to rope in a few more of our buddies...so when Flora came online yesterday, I told her that I wanted to DATE her...ahah act les....=P oh well....she accepted anyway.
So while we were crapping away yesterday, I was just thinking what will happen if i did the same thing on a guy, namely yuanwei. Just cuz he has a tendency to say the 'funniest' (not the larf-til-u-drop sense of the word) things...just ask weiqi...she claims that one conversation she had with turned turned out to be the "weirdest conversation i have with anyone in my nearly 21 years of life".
I can attest to that.

Anyway, the aim was to shock yuanwei into thinking that I'm asking him out on a date (ahaha in the romantic sense). Actually I was planning to do that on msn but he din come online so too bad. The next day(i.e today), I had an 8 am lecture which meant that I had to wake up real early and squeeze on the bus with like the rest of Singapore. So, the point I'm trying to make that I was sleepy bored most of the trip until I remembered what I was supposed to do. If anyone bothered to even watch me, I think he/she would be freaked out cuz my face was plastered with this smirk as I fiddled with my hp.

Sms (from me): Would you mind going on a date?
Then soon, yuanwei replied...wow din know he could wake up so early...prob suffering from same fate as me...8am lectures.
Sms (from yw): With u?
Sms (from me): I ask you of cuz with me la.
Sms (from yw): What time and where
Sms (from me): I was thinking of watching Corpse bride this sat
Sms (from yw): err I not interested in the show. (or something to that effect)

Wahwah! if this was for real means I kena rejected? ahha

Sms (from me): Actually I forgot to tell you something very important. You go with one get two extra*.
*Weiqi and Flora duh.

Sms (from yw): Miss, ay I have the luxury of knowing who are joining us?
Anyway, so I spilled the beans that Weiqi and Flora would be joining us. And maybe Weitzer and Xyz.
Sms (from yw): The show doesn't appeal to me. Count me out.
The I go into persuasion mode ahha...

After I got off the bus and was walking across the overhead bridge to school I was just done smsing with yw and I was just smiling till my eye kinda disappeared. Ahaha....good way to start your morning. Next time I need entertainment I'll go find him.

So anyway was going to meet xyz for lunch at 12 so went to the canteen around that time. Normally, I'll usually meet yuanwei and flora after lunch as I walk back to my lab but this time it was a reversal. As I was heading towards the canteen, I bumped into whoelse but yuanwei. Hrm dun know where huahua was. Yeah...so I got into my bimbotic mode and just riled him..." Wah...ren jia yue ni, ni ju jie!!" => loosely translates to people ask u out and u rejectz!)

I think I caught him off guard and he was trying to placate me by saying that he'll think about it and reply me on msn...Then I said, "Cannot!! later on msn u sure say dun wanna go again".

Ahha but I soon let him off the hook and made my way to the canteen. Then when I reached the canteen, I recieved an sms from xyz: "Hey...I got last min conference...Cannot meet for lunch le...Haiz"

HUH....so horrible timing...I was lugging a spider book and peiya's notes around to photocopy, meaning that I can't just go order my food cuz I won't be able to carry all my stuff. Besides, the canteen was just SUPER crowded. hate crowds.

So, I ended up in NUS-COOP to photocopied my stuff and to contribute to the stomachs of my hungry labmates. Ahha, I was guilty of being a cookie monster and just eating the stuff some people bought for the lab that I got a bag of cookies to make up. =) ahah Actually, it's to my own benefit too...cuz it's really frustrating not having anything to eat in the lab when you just want something to munch on. (My desk is just next to the unofficial coffee table. Hehheh.)
Anyway, I took quite some time to decide what to buy but while I was almost done paying up, I suddenly realised that there was still tall person next to me who said 'yo' It was xyz. wah....so qiao.

Anyway, this solved my table problem. Besides, it was also 12.30plusplus and there were fewer ppl around. Anyway, while I was eating my chicken rice, this guy (xyz's fren) suddenly popped out of nowwhere and perched himself at our table. It was not exactly that I minded someone but more like how he made himself so comfortable, resting his upper body forwards on the table DIRECTLY in front of me...and BLOCKING MY VIEW. Not that the view in NUS is great but I'd definitely like to see more than just him. I settled for looking down at my suddenly interesting chicken rice.
Sorry xyz if this offends you but erm, frankly I thought that guy quite likes to boast. He's sly about the manner he does this so maybe most ppl would regard it as harmless chitter chatter. Normally i'd regard that as harmless too especially if they have other redeeming factors. The type that I'm talking about is the kind of ppl who would talk about how they think they'd do badly cuz they din study much (and they'd emphasis that they dun study much in the manner that ...ooohhh actually I can't be bothered cuz I'm such a slacker and proud of it...) but actually they did quite well. And they know it's prob better than others but they try to be modest about it and ask ppl how well they did, saying 'oh...you prob did very well.' when they most prob hope not. AHah, okie maybe I'm being mean. But oh well, I'm prob also guilty of this at one point or another so I can't really point my finger at anyone.

Anyway, he blocked my view so I'm not very happy. Ahha.





The whole lecture group by a famous palm. The palm just so happens to be in flower..(See the middle tree with leaves hanging down. The yellow things above it are the inflorescence. Apparently, we are really lucky cuz this palm will only flowers after 80 plus years? After flower, most palms will die. So lucky i rather strike TOTO or 4D...Sweepstakes also can





It's actually a really nice place to unwind and stroll...some of the trees are really tall and even have lightening rods!~ so cool...I'll like to climb up there and just sit.....ahha loved Disney's Tarzan...the greenery was amazing





Okie..botanic gardens field trip: Our lecture class is splint into small groups and lead by teaching assistants to explore the place. Wendy is the one with the most AA (Attract attention) bag, i.e the pink white and grey one..hee we got that for her birthday last year!~





This is the lighter that yuanwei SOMEHOW managed to destroy...there was a mini explosion and the lighter just burst into flame...Scary..ahha anyway after that the weather suddenly took a turn for the worse and there was thunder and lightning? Ran home!! Exhausted when we reached...cooked cup noodles...good thing i just bot some for standby cuz they cleaned out everything i had...ahha yuanwei is my self appointed rubbish bin...good..this way i can lose wt

i've been procrastinating for far too long...and the crap thing is that I really have lotsa things to blog about just that I've been quite busy and tired of late. Hai...age is getting to me at 21.

Anyway let me try to recap:

1) 16/9/05 (Fri): Mid Autummn Festival Celebration on Friday + Sleepover at my place (usual gang). Look out for pictures!

2) 17/9/05 (Sat): Had breakfast at Holland V with mingli and xyz. Was supposed to go buy my booties (okie....wet shoes =P) but they din sell there. Andrew fake me! Meaning I had to make a trip down to town (Lucky Plaza). Boy, was I in a grumpy mood that day and maybe I took it out on some innocent people but hee can't blame me totally. As mingli puts it, its the combination of the weather, tiredness and the frustration (PMS made me do it!!). I realised I made some unfair demands and I truly apologise =) Glad u guys were so understanding..hee anyway everything's fine now and I've got my BOOTIES!! Finally!

3) 18/9/05 (Sun): Moon so bright. Played with left over lanterns and candles =P

4) From Mon 19/9/05 to Thurs 22/9/05: NUS TERM BREAK!!...for four day.....friday start school.....stupid nus cant even give a decent WEEK. Oh well...beggers can't be choosers. I went spider catching for the third time with my Professor (Prof Li) on Tuesday morn. Had to be in school by 6 am, which means I have to be up by 5 a.m! This is just so wrong...crap...what I have to endure for those spiders....they better pay me back good. It was a great trip as the Prof got a MINIVAN for just the two of us (LEG SPACE! ahha)to drive us from NUS to Lim Chu Kang and back. Anyway, things went very well as I decided to trust my instincts and walk a different path from the last two times. Lo and Behold, not only was it better cuz it's not as damp and treacherous, we found the spiders almost on every Brugeria tree. This is so much better than that miserable tree in the middle of nowhere (I had to make a big detour just to get to that stupid tree). Actually, I was thinking about not wanting to get my Prof too dirty (plus it's really hard to navigate) and that's why I tried alternatives...It worked cuz we (actually mainly him...he's not called the spiderman for nothing) collected 82 spiders. (84 actually if not for two that somehow got squashed...no gory details...my heart aches).
Came home, showered and fell asleep on the couch. Suffering from cramps...urgh...Pooped out. Somehow managed to drag myself up and back to school to house the spiders...worked till past nine in the lab...

Wednesday: LAB BUFFET dinner!! ahha, my prof got promoted from assistant prof to associate prof! woohoo!~ GREAT dinner at the holiday inn in town...was stuffing myself like there was no tomorrow. I'm so glad all my weighing scales at home are spoilt...can't bear the shame heehee. I NEED TO EXERCISE!!~

Friday: BACK to school....8am lecture!! argh...lucky it's a nice course Life forms and function. PLUS there's a field trip today to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve...ahah NEAR my house..yay easy transport home...173! STRAIGHT HOME! No idiotic hills to climb. It was a great trip....good exercise too (hee hee) and i'm finally starting to remember some of the names of the plant species. ahah one day, I'll brush up and next time I hope I can guide my friends on a nature tour =P loads of interesting trivia to share!
Ohoh by the way, there are loads of monkeys there. There are so used to people and have no qualm strolling around like they own the place. My fren just bot a Mars bar and was just holding it when suddenly we saw a blur a fur rush by and heard my fren shouting...HEY MY MARS BARS!! Damn funny sia. Then the monkey swooped up to the rooftop of the resthouse where we could see it enjoying its ill gotten meal. As the monkey tore at the wrapper and started biting at the chocolate within, we saw it periodically spitting out something. Then my fren said, Hey! Everything's edible okay! Don't Spit!!

Ahahah so sad and so funny.

By the way, I went on a field trip to the Botanic Gardens last week too. Fun. Will post some pictures later (taken by our TAs...i think...or my lecturer). After the trip was even more fun...I went clothes crazy at the store Wendy used to work in (Queensway) and blew $200 just like that. But I have to admit that I got a really really got bargain. 7 pieces for $200 is cheap!!
I got one great jeans, 1 jeans mini, 1 pleated skirt and 4 tops =P

WILL RESOLVE TO NOT BUY ANYMORE CLOTHES FOR A LONG LONG LONG LONG TIME.

Okie...that's all for the update....this weekend is quite uneventful. Just want to say a big thanks to xyz for helping me buy and deliver my precious tapes!~

my little own mid autumn festival celebration out in my balcony. Basically, I get to be a big kid again stuffing myself with yummy mooncakes, tea and play with lanterns and sparklers...my first celebration is with the usual gang but xyz has yet to pass me the photos so i'l post them later...ahah these are taken with CoolPix..the camera I borrowed from my lab to take my spiders...Obviously I'll make good use of it!~ =P




I wish that there were less cloud at night so that I can see the stars.

I wish that I was far from civilisation where artificial lights can't touch me. And the sky will be pitch black at night instead of the deep purple I see.

I wish that I lived in a simpler time. Advances that increase efficiency and save time have made people want to do more and ironically, they now moan more about the lack of time.

I wish that I could stay 5 forever.

I wish that I'd never stop wondering. That each time I'll still be overwhelmed by the colours of the world...even on a normal day. That I'll never forget how the sunlight falls through the foliage and how blue the sky really is. And that no technical explanation will be able to take away this simple joy.




Today, my paternal grandpa just passed away suddenly. I heard that my cousin who was sitting beside him did not even know that something was wrong. It seems that some of my extended family was celebrating jie yen (my niece)'s birthday and everything seemed normal. When they realised that my grandpa was not right, they called for the ambulance but it was too late. He passed away on the way to the hospital.

I was in nus doing my experiments at the time when i received an sms from my other cousin. My parents did not inform me because they did not want me to worry but i feel that they should have. I'm not a kid anymore.

I saw his body in the tan tock seng mortuary. Although I have never been close to my paternal grandfather, his death was very unexpected. His face was very peaceful...but slightly stretched and they had wrapped him in sheets up to his torso. His mouth was open...the way old people do when they fall alseep.

Still, I"m glad that his death was so quick and peaceful. It could have been worse as he had been recently diagnosed with cancer.

It's really as my mother said...the older generation are slowly going...one by one. A sad truth but this is life.

it was really nice walking at nite in east coast..v breezy...but a tad sticky though. Finally the overnight gang (me, weiqi, flora, mingli and yuanwei) settled to sit in a ring on the beach using each other for support...I think i got quite a decent sleep that way...we tried to take some pictures of ourselves in that formation but..erm...think I'll not post it cuz it looks rather gross. hee. Me, FLora n YuanWei walked up n down Orchard trying on SOOoooooo many jackets....all started with us finding a great yellow mambo jacket that all 3 of us liked but that #*& weiqi say dun like yellow...so what to do? Princess for the day tell us..we must follow orders....so 2hrs was added to our hunt just like that....and what's worse...we went back to the same mambo store to get this pink jacket after exhausting all other shops. cry

Like I said earlier, it was the fengshui at work...ahha in this new position my luck did a 360 degrees turn. Maybe it's also because this time we did not use chips...Sigh, if not my pile of chips will be high..not like before..so pathetic!





They say that a picture tells a thousand words and I dun have the time to elaborate on what happened on the 3rd of Spetember. so basically this was what happened..in a nutshell. Sorry for the horrible drawings cuz I did this in a few seconds and took it with CoolPix..the camera I borrowed from my lab for my field trip tomorrow. I am supposed to be very sad in this picture




Actually when I woke up this morning, I wanted to blog a post on how Weiqi's birthday chalet was and about all the fun (should I put inverted commas??) we had bullying Yuan Wei...the only guy in the company of 4 great gals!~ (But, haha like I told yw, 'WE APPRECIATE HIM ALOT!!' =)hee)

But after my morning bath and listening to the Seisouhen (KEnshin OVA 2) OST, my mood just grew heavier and more tensed. Right now, my heart feels slightly jumpy and scared and I am even having problems typing now. It's as though my panic is paralysing me and my fingers just lost their strength. It's a hard period for me right now but I know that I can pull through this as I have been through worse. But, I just need support. I'm just bottling everything inside because there is too much to tell and no one who can really help. BUt there is something that people can help me with. Remember that when I collected my spiders at the Lim Chu Kang mangroves? I need to go back there again but the problem is that my professor in not in Singapore at the moment and my seniors in the lab are all busy at the moment to accompany me to the mangroves. I need someone, preferably a guy (but girls who don't mind getting dirty are always welcomed) to follow me because I can't go there on my own. What if I get stuck again??? This is no laughing matter!!

The low tide is from the 6th to 9th September and is mostly from 6a.m to 9 a.m. I will be leaving for the place at 6.00 a.m. And if everything proceeds smoothly via cab and should be done by 8 or 9 a.m. Then, depending on how dirty I get, I'll either go home or go to NUS to house my spiders and eat. There are bathing facilities near my lab. To go to the mangroves, you should preferably wear booties or tight fitting shoes that you can bear to get dirty. If you don't mind the mud then wear sandals. However, you have to bring an extra pair of shoes to change out off and an old towel to clean your feet cuz I don't public transport will be to happy to have us on in a muddy state.

Please approach me asap!!~ CALL ME!!! SMS ME!!! I desperately neeeed help!~ Thanks!!!

In the lab again...alone. But I love it when there is noone around...ahah i get unlimitted access to the computer (a tad slow though but beggers can't be choosers!)

A little bummed out though cuz I LOST one of my spider while feeding it...actually, I was lucky cuz I could have lost even more...Okie, what happened was that I was going to feed my spiders with drosophilas aka fruit flys that I knocked out with CO2 (carbon dioxide). But normall,y I would unstoppered a few of the containers before brushing the sleeping flies in. This is cuz those dratted flies wake up very quickly and if I'm not careful, my lab would be overtaken by them (already, I caught quite a few strays buzzing around in the lab). Anyway, thing seemed normal but when I turned back to feed my spiders, i noticed one spider out of its container. No sweat. I stoppered my container of fruit flies before catching that little bugger. Then I spotted another one on top of another spider's container. Hmm...catch him first before I think about which spider belongs in which container (No big problemo yet for I had noted the physical attributes of every spider i had, i.e. sex, missing legs, body size etc...yes...I'm that thorough but what to do?? Anyway, this means that I can just do some simple matching) Then, when I was about to feed the rest of the unstoppered spiders with my fruit flies (it's a race against time before they wake up it not i'd have to anaesthesize them again), i realised that two more spiders had ran away!!

PANIC BUTTON!!!!~

Shit crap...argh...to cut the long story short, I found one of those 2 perch on another spider's container. That container had fruit flies within and somehow, that stupid spider was thinking of catching his meal through plastic. Spider greed...Lucky for me I say.

The one that i have yet to find though is a female adult with all its legs intact and this means that I have less viable females to use!!!! hai...nevermind, this just means I'm definitely going back to the mangroves to catch them again. Though I wonder, what if Singapore's entired population of my spiders is really only found on that tree??? Then would this mean that I'm effectively wiping them out? Or what it there is not enough for me to catch or what if I caught almost all of them???
ARGHHhh questions and never ending questions....I think i'm getting paranoid!~
